Armed robbery, Ormeau

Detectives are investigating after the armed robbery of a tavern in Ormeau earlier this morning.

Around 3.30am three men approached the business on the corner of Halfway Drive and Pascoe Road.

One of the men discharged a firearm into the glass door of the building before threatening a staff member.

A second man threatened a security guard with a machete and demanded money from the premises before all three fled the scene with a sum of cash, in a white van.

No one was physically injured during the robbery.

The van was later located on fire on Plunkett Road in Tamborine.

The men are described as Caucasian in appearance and were last seen wearing facial coverings.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
